2021 Fundraising Campaigns

Welcome to the YBI Community!
We are excited to announce upcoming events that will provide opportunities, build community involvement, and provide a space for the youth to cultivate their ideas. YBI is in a complete transition to better assist our students to create a better future for them as well as better our community. Our mission is to provide the fundamental principles of business management to encourage entrepreneurship and career-building, improving life skills, and creating a safe space.

YBI Annual Basketball Tournament

Our students had the opportunity to participate in YBI’s 2nd annual basketball tournament, which is a community involved fundraising event. The students have been involved in the planning and in working the event itself. Our students were divided into sections of the event which were merchandise table, raffle table, food area, registration table, assisting on the court and a designated medic runner for when a participant sustained injuries. We even had our YBI students win the championship for their age division.

The event was held on Saturday, July 24, and we had a successful turnout of participants, community providers, and Sponsors. We were able to raise $15,000 from this event, which gave us the push for next year's event to be bigger. Stay tuned for updates on next year's planning efforts.

In addition to hosting the basketball tournament, YBI participated in a joined partnership with Human Services Council to host a community backpack giveaway. Community members were able to receive free backpacks along with other school supplies while enjoying the fundraising event. This was a great opportunity for us to be a part of an important activity that benefitted many within the community. YBI aims to improve community relations between the youth and local businesses, offer marketing for local businesses through a partnership, and to create internship and employment opportunities for our students. Organizations, especially nonprofit organizations depend heavily on the community for support.

Mecha Noodle Bar Fundraiser

On August 1, YBI joined in a fundraising initiative with Mecha Noodle Bar. Our goal is to raise $10,000 through this initiative. For every noodle bowl purchased, one dollar is donated to YBI, and this accounts for all locations throughout Connecticut. This business partnership has made it possible to continue with our efforts of relying on the power of the Community to assist in fundraising as well as improving relationships with local businesses. Currently, we have already surpassed our $10,000 goal, however this initiative remains until the end of August. Since all locations are participating in the fundraising effort, make sure to purchase a bowl to aid in providing resources for our students.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant

The Youth Business Initiative is one of the Top 200 finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program. We need you to rally behind our cause, cast your vote and help us win one of 40 $25K grants!
